Necessity is the mother of invention
Just what do you do when a Sunday afternoon family gathering decides on a spontaneous session of backyard cricket and there is no cricket bat? While you start the innings with a tennis racket , the very talented DOS finds a lump of wood and makes a cricket bat in the garage. While manufacturers of premier willow bats don't have to worry quite just yet the fine piece of woodwork was responsible for a number of backyard sixes!

Cool cricket bat! That was an innings well-spent in the garage.
Worth the effort, I'll say! We have to be inventive at our house.... we are always losing bits and pieces of whatever game we want to play at the moment.
