The Guilt of the Discount

The Great Shopping Expedition yesterday was great for a number of reasons. The first being that S could actually undertake the journey ( admittedly only after medical appointments) and the second that S still has the uncanny skill of sourcing a bargain.

It was only when WStar and S arrived home that the guilt set in. We bought Kingsley a dressing gown for her to grow into and that would last a few years. It was marked down from $55 to $20 so became a justifiable purchase even though Kingsley's beloved current purple dressing gown still fits her. Auditing the sales receipt dockets showed that the purchase went through as the further reduced amount of $15.

S feels like a thief but can I really return to the store to pay the difference. They would think I was crazy. Now S wonders how often the error has gone the way of the store rather than the customer and will be studying the weekly grocery bill more closely! Guess it all evens out over time.

Given S's current size and shape maybe more haggling would have resulted in a BOGOF dressing gown deal. Nothing better that the old "Buy One Get One Free".

S quite often things go through more cheaply than the advertised price at the end of season sales.

In saying that quite often things are overcharged as well. Especially grocery items. I always check my grocery reciept.

You must be feeling better to be able to tackle shopping.

Fairlie- after reading about your jean shopping expedition I chose a department store purchase. The only person to offer fashion advise was the very tactful WStar. The jeans feel great on me and on my bank account. Win Win situation.

Wstar lulled S into a false sense of fashion security! Only kidding S, they did look good.
