Old Ted New Ted

Once upon a time, many decades ago, there was a baby called S who was given a furry bear to hug and love. This bear, let's call it Old Ted, saw a lot of adventures in his day. He met with unfortunate accidents and received TLC and stitches from MoS. Old Ted survived house sales and moves and despite narrowly avoiding the trip in the big metal bin to the Tip , Old Ted is still around. Balding and fur less, with one eye replaced and with major surgery to the back of his neck to keep his insides in. At least S's body ,which is the same age, is in a marginally better shape!

Roll forward 40 years and S and Kingsley were the lucky recipients of a "Build a Bear Workshop" bear thanks to very kind friends- the nearly Blacks. New Ted is a magnificent specimen of a modern bear. Lush blonde fur, two well attached eyes, 3 times the size of Old Ted, detailed nose and mouth and wearing a designer plush pink dressing gown and comfy blue slippers any mother would love to receive for a Mother's Day present.

This is where the problems started. Old Ted and New Ted had to fight for the affections of Kingsley and S. Kingsley's empire of Teddies of various shapes and sizes fills the top shelf of her wardrobe. S on the other hand , only ever had one teddy while growing up which is probably why Old Ted looks so worn out.

After a series of intense discussions Old Ted and New Ted have settled their differences and will enjoy pleasant co- habitation in the house of Team SAK.

I find something a bit evil about those Build-a-Bears...they seem to have the ability to extort very large sums of money out of generous and loving parents, grandparents, relatives and friends.

Not, of course, that I think yours is evil. She's actually quite cute...but I would crack a smile if Old Ted beat the stuffing out of New Ted and banished her to a dark and scary corner of the house of Team SAK!
